CLAY COUNTY, Neb. (KGFW) – Clay County authorities say an overnight manhunt for an armed suspect was unsuccessful.
More than 100 officers from 4 counties, including the State Patrol, a helicopter and SWAT, searched for 44-year-old Wesley Blessing – who’s accused of shooting at law enforcement Tuesday afternoon.
KSNB Local 4 News reports Hastings police alerted Clay County authorities to Blessing’s possible location after a 34-year-old Hastings woman said Blessing had held her against her will for four days.
He’s described as 5′ 11″ tall, white with brown hair, brown eyes, weighing about 225-lbs. He was last seen near DeWeese, near the intersection of county Road 303 and Road F, wearing an orange hoodie and brown coveralls.
According to a post on the Clay County Emergency Management Facebook page, “The manhunt that included over 100 officers from Clay County, Fillmore County, Nuckolls County, Adams County, Harvard and Sutton PD, and Nebraska State Patrol, SWAT, helicopter and airplane came up negative tonight. There are still officers in the area. Please be vigilant tonight and call 911 if you see anything suspicious.”
