ANSLEY, Neb. (KGFW) – More details have been released in the investigation of a plane crash Saturday southwest of Ansley.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office says the small, single-engine, plane had taken off near Mason City, en route to Holyoke, Colorado.

About 4:37 that afternoon, Civil Air Patrol notified the sheriff’s office of the crash.

Upon arrival, the plane was found destroyed. The pilot, and lone occupant, was found dead among the wreckage. He’s been identified as 74-year-old Keith Walker of rural Mason City.

The investigation has been turned over to the FAA and NTSB.

ANSLEY, Neb. (KGFW) – Authorities say one person died in a plane crash discovered Saturday afternoon in Custer County. The Sheriff’s office said on its Facebook page that, shortly after 1 pm, it received a report of an overdue plane in Colorado. The wreckage was discovered about 4:40 pm in a pasture southwest of Ansley. The Nebraska State Patrol and FAA have joined the investigation into the cause of the crash.
