The Nebraska baseball team capped a 3-1 trip to New Jersey with a 7-6 win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in 13 innings yesterday. With the win, the Huskers are now just a half game behind Indiana for first place in the Big Ten standings. The Huskers are back at Hawks Field this weekend for a three-game series against the Northwestern Wildcats. The series opens Friday at 6:30.
Eight matchups have been announced for the second annual Nebraska Girls Basketball Showcase, which will take place Jan. 8th, 2022, in Kearney. The field will include six teams that reached the state tournament in 2021. All games will take place at the Viaero Events Center.

The South Dakota State football team advanced to the national championship game with a 33-3 victory over Delaware last Saturday. The top-seeded Jackrabbits, 8-1 overall, will face No. 2 Sam Houston this Sunday in the national championship game at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Kickoff is set for 1:00, with the game televised on ABC. The Jackrabbits feature two former Kearney High Bearcats, Ben Dinkle and Isaiah Stalbird.
