The Husker’s Ally Batenhorst was named the Gatorade national high school volleyball player of the year yesterday. In her senior season in Katy, Texas the 6-foot-4 outside hitter averaged 6.6 kills per set, with 371 digs, 33 blocks and 32 ace serves. According to Prepvolleyball.com Batenhorst was the No. 3 overall recruit in the nation. Batenhorst graduated from high school in December and enrolled at Nebraska in January. She is the fourth Nebraska player in the past 13 years to earn the award, joining Lexi Sun (2017), Mikaela Foecke (2015) and Gina Mancuso (2009). Each of them went on to become college All-Americans for the Huskers.

The Nebraska football team’s pro agility numbers were released yesterday. The top guy, senior safety Deontai Williams, set a program record with a time of 3.75 seconds. Just behind him was walk-on wide receiver Wyatt Liewer, who tied the old record at 3.77 seconds. The Huskers will continue releasing winter/pre-spring testing results throughout the week.
