Yesterday’s Nebraska baseball game against Northwestern was cancelled due to COVID concerns within the Wildcat program. The Huskers won the only two games played by a combined score of 23-7. The winners of 4 in-a-row, and 5 of their last 6 games, the Huskers are now 25-11 on the season. Michigan took 2-of-3 from Indiana in Ann Arbor last weekend, which means the Huskers now lead the Hoosiers and Wolverines by mere percentage points for first place in the Big Ten standings. The Huskers travel to Bloomington, Indiana this weekend for a pair of games against both the Hoosiers and Ohio State.
The Nebraska softball team went 1-and-3 to close the regular season this past weekend at Northwestern. With no Big Ten Tournament this year, and no expectations of an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Huskers end their season with a record of 22-22.
The Creighton baseball team spilt their four-game series against St.Johns in New Jersey this past weekend. Still sitting atop the Big East standings, the Bluejays close the regular season this weekend with a four game series against Xavier at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha.
Six Husker football players — Damian Jackson, Chris Kolarevic, Deontai Williams, Cameron Jurgens, Cam Taylor-Britt and Phalen Sanford — met the standards for placement on the Nebraska Record Platform by scoring 500 or more points in each of six strength-and-conditioning categories.
Nebraska has offered one of their two remaing scholarships to Tulsa graduate transfer defensive back Akayleb Evans. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Evans appeared in 30 games for the Hurricanes. He was granted a medical hardship in 2019 after suffering a shoulder injury after playing in just three games. Due to the redshirt and the added year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Evans has two years of eligibility remaining.
