The Creighton men’s basketball team learned their schedule for the 2021 Paradise Jam yesterday. The tourney will be played at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center in November. Creighton will open play against Brown University on Nov. 19th at 2:15 p.m. Central. This will be the Jays’ its second trip to the Paradise Jam.
Creighton has landed a commitment from four-star recruit Arthur Kaluma, a former UNLV signee who’ll join the Bluejays this summer. The 6-8 forward is rated No. 45 overall on the 247Sports composite rankings of the 2021 class. He’s the highest-ranked prospect in Creighton’s four-man class — and the highest-ranked recruit to pick CU in the Greg McDermott era. Kaluma reportedly chose CU over Arizona, Syracuse, Washington and Western Kentucky. He’s the Jays’ second scholarship roster addition since the end of the 2020-21 season. Two weeks ago, Creighton signed 6-foot-7 forward Ryan Hawkins, a transfer with one remaining year of eligibility who starred for Division II champion Northwest Missouri State. The addition of Kaluma boosted the rankings of the Jays’ 2021 recruiting class to No. 7 (247) and No. 12 (Rivals) nationally. It’s the highest-touted group of incoming freshmen in recent Creighton history.
