The Nebraska baseball team captured their second Big Ten regular-season title yesterday with a 9-0 win over the Ohio State Buckeyes in Bloomington, Indiana. With no Big Ten Tournament this year, the conference title means the Huskers have secured the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Tournament Selection Show is slated for Monday, May 31st, at 11:00 on ESPN2. The winners of eight straight, the Huskers close the regular season this weekend at Hawks Field with a three game series against the Michigan Wolverines.

The Creighton Baseball team wrapped up their regular season schedule with a 3-2 victory over Xavier Saturday at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. The Bluejays will be the No. 2 seed in the Big East Tournament and will play No. 3 Seton Hall in the opening game Thursday at 1:30.

The field has been set for this week’s Summit League Baseball Tournament. 3rd-seeded Omaha will face 2nd-seeded North Dakota State at Tal Anderson Field in Omaha, Thursday at 6:00.

Texas A&M announced Sunday it is parting ways with baseball coach Rob Childress. Childress departs Aggieland after 16 years as head coach with a 621-334-3 record. Prior to becoming the head coach at Texas A&M, Childress served as an assistant coach at Nebraska for eight years. The Aggies finished at the bottom of the SEC West standings this season and were one of only two conference teams to not qualify for the conference tourney. The team only won two SEC series this season.

2022 4-star running back Justin Williams says he’ll travel to Nebraska for one of his five official visits. The 6-foot-0, 200-pound Georgia native holds offers from Nebraska, West Virginia, Louisville, Minnesota, South Florida, Arkansas, Duke, Kansas State, Memphis, Michigan State, NC State, Ole Miss, Pitt, Tennessee and USC.

Nebraska linebacker Caden McCormack has entered the NCAA transfer portal. A walk-on from Lincoln Southwest, McCormack was one of three Nebraska football players charged with maintaining a disorderly house following an off-campus party at their home in September.

The 63rd annual Shrine Bowl of Nebraska game will take place June 5th at 6:00 PM at the University of Kearney campus at Ron and Carol Cope Stadium Foster Field. The South roster includes Kearney Highs Gabe VanWinkle and Jack Johnson, and Kearney Catholic’s Cale Conrad and Logan O’Brien.
