The Nebraska baseball team upset the top-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks 5-3 last night to force a winner-take-all game tonight for the Fayetteville Regional title. The Huskers opened yesterday with an 18-4 win over NJIT, and then avoided elimination again with their win over the Razorbacks. Tonight’s Regional Final is set for a 6:00PM start. The winner advances to the Super Regionals, the loser will see their season come to an end.
The Huskers handed out a few scholarship offers after their “Friday Night Lights” event at Memorial Stadium.
That list includes:
– Lincoln Southeast offensive lineman Gunnar Gottula, who also has offers from Iowa State and Kansas State
– Iowa Western defensive lineman Jordan Van Den Berg, who posted a time of 4.75-second in the 40-yard dash.
– Erie, Colorado offensive lineman John Pastore.
The Huskers did host eight official visitors, but none of them worked out in front of the roughly 500 fans and parents in attendance.
The list of visitors included:
– Quarterback Richard Torres from San Antonio, Texas.
– Running back Justin Williams from Dallas, Texas.
– Wide receiver Landon Samson from Southlake, Texas.
This was the first of four recruiting camps taking place at Memorial Stadium. The second and final Friday Night Lights event will be held June 18th. The 7-on-7 camp will be held this Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m (gates open at 9:00). The Adidas Pipeline camp for offensive and defensive linemen will take place June 19th.
At the 63rd annual Nebraska Shrine Bowl Saturday, it was the North All-Stars topping the South 10-3.
