Max Anderson racked up another postseason award on Wednesday, as he was named a freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. It’s the third-straight season Nebraska has produced a freshman All-American, as Colby Gomes (NCBWA) was honored in 2019 and Leighton Banjoff (Collegiate Baseball) was picked in 2020. The Big Ten Freshman of the Year finished second on the team in batting average (.332) and hits (61). He added seven home runs and 32 RBIs in 45 games. He had 19 multi-hit games, including a team-best nine three-hit games and tied for the team lead with a pair of four-hit performances.

The six newest members of the University of Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame class were announced on Wednesday.

– The class includes:

Therese Alshammar (1998-99), the only woman to swim in six Olympic Games.
Jordan Burroughs (2007-11), Nebraska’s first two-time national champion wrestler.
Bob Cerv (1947-50), Nebraska baseball’s first All-American and was the first Husker to play in Major League Baseball.
Kelsey Griffin (2006-10), who led the Husker women’s basketball team to the greatest season in program history.
Larry Jacobson (1969-71), a member of Nebraska’s first two national championship football teams and was the first Husker to win a major award as the 1971 Outland Trophy Winner.
Cathy Noth (1981-84), the only volleyball player to be a three-time Big Eight Tournament MVP in conference history, and she was also the first of Nebraska’s nation-leading total of American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Americans.

This year’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Friday, Oct. 1st, a day before Nebraska takes on Northwestern in the annual Homecoming Game at Memorial Stadium. In addition to the 2021 class, the 2020 class will also be inducted in October after last year’s induction ceremony was postponed due to the pandemic.

– The 2020 Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame class includes:

Amanda Burgoyne (bowling, 2004-07)
Eric Crouch (football, 1997-2001)
Sam Francis (football and track and field, 1935-37)
Maurtice Ivy (women’s basketball, 1985-88)

Redshirt freshman quarterback Luke McCaffrey has left the Louisville program. According to Cardinals head coach Scott Satterfield said McCaffrey was on campus for roughly a week, and participated in only “3-4” summer workouts before deciding to leave the program because he wanted to come in and be the starting quarterback. He committed to Louisville in February after having left Nebraska the month prior.
