The Huskers’ Big Red Blitz is tomorrow with 10 groups of coaches and athletic staff criss-crossing the state of Nebraska. Capacity is limited at each event, and fans will be admitted free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

One group will be at the Younes Conference Center South in Kearney at 2:30. Guests will include Head Football Coach Scott Frost, Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Nate Loenser and Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development Ben Murray. The stop will be emceed by the voice of the Huskers Greg Sharpe.

A group that includes Men’s Basketball Head Coach Fred Hoiberg, Assistant Football Coach Travis Fisher and Senior Deputy Athletic Director John Johnson will be making a noon appearance at Grand Island’s Bosselman Conference Center, and a 4:00 stop at the Lochland Country Club in Hastings. Kent Pavelka, Huskers Radio Network Men’s Basketball Play-by-Play will be the emcee.

Assistant Football Coach Sean Beckton and Men’s Basketball Director of Player Development Buzzy Caruthers will be at the Nautical Rose at Johnson Lake Wednesday at noon, and JB Sport’s Bar and Grill in Holdrege at 4:00.

In recruiting news: Richard Torres, a three-star quarterback from San Antonio, has announced his commitment to the Huskers. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, the 6-foot-6 Torres is the 59th best QB prospect in the nation. His commitment is Nebraska’s fourth in the 2022 class, joining linebacker Ernest Hausmann, wide receiver Victor Jones Jr. and tight end Chase Androff.

For the second time in a year, Luke McCaffrey has a new transfer destination. On Monday, the now-former Husker AND Louisville quarterback announced on his Twitter account that he is transferring to Rice. The news comes less than a week after Cardinals coach Scott Satterfield confirmed McCaffrey had left the program. He began his career at Nebraska and appeared in seven games — starting two — as a redshirt freshman in 2020. His transfer to the Owls will mark his third program in less than a year.
