Spencer Schwellenbach was named a First-Team American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-American Saturday. He is the first Husker to earn first-team All-America honors since Alex Gordon in 2005. Add that to an already impressive list of honors, including being named the 2021 Big Ten Player of the Year and winning the Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award. Schwellenbach is also a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award.
The College World Series continues today at T.D. Ameritrade Park in Omaha.

Jake Appleget, a two-way standout at Lincoln Southeast, verbally committed to the Huskers this weekend. The 6-foot-4 and 210-pound three star recruit also had offers from Minnesota, Illinois State, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Yale. The Huskers also received a verbal commitment from Grant Page, a three-star receiver from Boulder, Colorado. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound wideout also had offers from Kansas State, Colorado, Colorado State, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Michigan State, Utah, Wake Forest and Washington State. He’s the second wideout in the Huskers’ 2022 recruiting class, joining Victor Jones from Orlando, Florida. Five of the seven members of the Huskers’ 2022 recruiting class have verbally committed since June 7th.
The Huskers wrapped up their recruiting camp schedule this past weekend with their second Friday Night Lights event, and Saturday’s Adidas Pipeline camp. Four prospects out of the Chicago area attended the Friday Night Lights event and landed scholarship offers. The first is 2022 prospect Jalil Martin, a 6-foot-3 190 pound three-star defensive back. He also has offers from Illinois, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Missouri and Texas Tech. The other three prospects from the Chicago area are wide receivers; Logan Lester (2023), Malik Elzy (2023) and I’Marion Stewart (2024).
Dylan Raiola, 2024 quarterback and son of the former Husker All-America center Dominic Raiola, received a Husker offer after an impressive outing in Lincoln Friday night. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Raiola already has offers from Georgia, Washington State and TCU. Alabama, Clemson, Texas, Oklahoma and Notre Dame have also shown interest in the soon to be high school sophomore from Texas.
