The Huskers’ Max Anderson added another postseason honor on Monday, as he was named a second-team freshman All-American by Perfect Game/Rawlings. The 2021 Big Ten Freshman of the Year finished the year second on the team in both batting average (.332) and hits (61). Anderson was also named a freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper earlier this month. It’s the third-straight season Nebraska has produced a freshman All-American, as Colby Gomes (NCBWA) was honored in 2019 and Leighton Banjoff (Collegiate Baseball) in 2020.
The College World Series continues today at T.D. Ameritrade Park in Omaha.

In football recruiting news; The Huskers hosted three star offensive lineman Jake Maikkula from Highlands Ranch, Colorado yesterday. The 6-foot-6 265-pound prospect already has 27 offers from the likes of Arizona, Baylor, BYU, Cal, Colorado, UConn, Iowa State, Kansas State. Maryland, Minnesota, Oregon State, Utah, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Illinois. He was the 19th, and final scheduled visitor before the July dead period.
