A trio of Nebraska volleyball players will represent the United States at the 2021 Federation of International Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship. Freshmen Ally Batenhorst, Lindsay Krause and Lexi Rodriguez will suit up for Team USA at the World Championships, July 9-18 in the Netherlands and Belgium. Nebraska has had more players named to the U20 World Championship team than any other collegiate program. The three freshmen will join three former Huskers in representing the United States this summer. Jordan Larson, Kelsey Robinson and Justine Wong-Orantes were all selected as part of the 12-player team that will represent the United States in Tokyo later this month.
Husker men’s basketball signee Keisei Tominaga will represent his home country in the Tokyo Olympics, as he was one of four players selected for Japan’s 3×3 basketball team. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard is the youngest member of the four-player team. He will be the third Husker basketball player to play in the Olympic Games, joining Aleks Maric (2012, Australia) and Ade Dagunduro (2012, Nigeria).
The Nebraska men’s basketball team picked up a commitment from high-scoring Arizona State transfer guard Alonzo Verge on Thursday. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Chicago native averaged 14 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists for the Sun Devils last season. Verge is immediately eligible with one season of college hoops remaining.
Bellevue West tight end Micah Riley-Ducker, one of the state’s top football recruits, committed to Auburn on Wednesday. According to the industry generated 247Sports Composite rankings, the 6-foot-6 and 235 pounds Riley-Ducker is the 15th best tight end in the nation and is the 3rd best prospect in Nebraska. He chose Auburn over offers from 28 other schools.
