Former Husker assistant Rob Childress has been hired as Director of Player Development for the Nebraska baseball team. Childress was fired earlier this year at Texas A&M, where he’d spent 16 seasons. The Aggies went to the College World Series twice and were in the NCAA Tournament every season with Childress as head coach, making a Super Regional six times. Current Nebraska head coach Will Bolt was an assistant for Childress at Texas A&M.

– Bellevue West tight end Kaden Helms, one of the top recruits in Nebraska, plans to announce his college commitment sometime this week. The 6-foot-5 220 pound three star prospect has offers from 25 Division I programs. He’s projected to sign with Oklahoma.
The Nebraska softball team added infielder Mya Felder to its roster on Friday. Felder joins the Huskers as a transfer from Oregon. Last season, Felder was a third-team All-Pacific Region selection for the Ducks, who advanced to an NCAA Regional Final. She has played in 127 games in her collegiate career with 118 starts, and boasts a career batting average of .326 with 23 doubles, 19 home runs and 77 RBIs with a .429 on-base percentage and .583 slugging percentage. Felder will have two years of eligibility at Nebraska.
