A third Husker was selected on the final day of the MLB Draft. Junior Cam Wynne was picked by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 20th round on Wednesday. A Lincoln native, the 6-6 right hander made 17 relief appearances last season and posted a 3.12 ERA.

Elkhorn pitcher Drew Christo is heading to Nebraska instead of turning pro after not being selected in the first 10 rounds of the MLB draft. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Christo was rated as the 236th best overall prospect by MLB.com ahead of the draft.

The Nebraska baseball team is adding Texas A&M right-hander Mason Ornelas. He announced the transfer on social media Tuesday. In 18 appearances and one start for now former Aggie head coach Rob Childress, Ornelas finished with a 3-2 record, a 5.11 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 37.0 innings of work. The 6-foot, 210-pound righty will have three seasons of eligibility at Nebraska.

The annual Nebraska Football Fan Day set for Thursday, July 29th. It’s your best opportunity to meet and greet Husker players and coaches before the start of football season. The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.

The Husker football team has added two more walk-on transfers:

The first is former Northern Arizona receiver Chancellor Brewington. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound redshirt junior was a three-star recruit in 2017 at Hamilton High in Chandler, Arizona, where he was a teammate of Nebraska defensive back Javin Wright. Hamilton recorded more than 1,700 career receiving yards and 20 touchdowns for the Huskies.

The Huskers have also added defensive back Kyan Brumfeld, who played three years at Colgate before graduating and transferring to Texas Tech. The 6-foot, 185-pound junior from San Antonio, Texas, appeared in six games for the Red Raiders last season, playing primarily on special teams, and was an Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection.

The UNK women’s basketball team is ranked 20th in all of NCAA Division II with a 3.656 cumulative grade point average for the 2020-21 season. During the spring semester, three Lopers had a perfect 4.00 GPA with four more posting at least a 3.90 mark. The UNK women went 23-4 last winter, winning the MIAA Tournament, reaching the NCAA “Sweet 16” and coming in ninth in the final WBCA Top 25 poll.
