Former Husker All-American and College Football Hall of Famer, Trev Alberts has been hired as Nebraska’s next athletic director. Alberts has spent the last 12 years leading the Nebraska-Omaha Athletic department, including their transition from Division II to Division I. Alberts becomes the school’s 14th athletic director. He replaces Bill Moos, who retired June 30th.
Frank Solich is retiring for health reasons after 16 seasons as head coach at Ohio. The 76 year old is the winningest head coach in Mid-American Conference history with 115 victories. His Bobcats made eleven bowl appearances and won four Mid-American Conference East Division titles. He spent six seasons as Husker head coach, winning a Big 12 championship in 1999 before being let go in 2003.

Hayden Schwartz, a three-star defensive lineman from Florida, announced his commitment to the Huskers yesterday. The 6-foot-4, 244-pound Schwartz has been tabbed by 247Sports as the 47th best defensive lineman in the nation. He chose the Huskers over offers from Michigan, Missouri and 29 other schools. He is the 8th member of the Huskers’ 2022 recruiting class.
The annual Nebraska Football Fan Day set for Thursday, July 29th. The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
Tickets to the Nebraska volleyball team’s annual Red-White Scrimmage go on sale this morning at 10:00. The annual scrimmage will take place Saturday, Aug. 21st at 6:00 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Tickets can be purchased for $10 online at Huskers.com/tickets, or by calling 1-800-8-BIG-RED.
