KGFW Sports – Husker and Loper Update, Hastings LL and High School

The Nebraska football team is holding their 15th practice of the fall this morning.

On the injury front:
Frost says junior tight end Travis Vokolek has been “nicked up a bit” but isn’t going to be out for the season or an extended period of time.

The Huskers open the season at Illinois Saturday, August 28th, kickoff will be at noon.

– USA Today’s preview of the Big Ten has the Huskers seventh in the conference’s power rankings.

The Nebraska volleyball team is hosting their annual Red/White Scrimmage this Saturday. First serve will be at 6:00 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The UNK volleyball team reports to fall camp today in preparation for a season that begins this Saturday with an exhibition match at Division I Air Force. The Lopers will have seven practices before heading West to take on the Falcons. UNK starts the 2021 season in New York City at the Molloy College Invite (Sept. 3rd & 4th) before returning home to host its annual tournament the following weekend.

Little League Baseball Central Region Tournament @ Whitestown, Indiana

– Saturday – Championship Game
– Hastings def. South Dakota 6-0
(Only the second time ever for a Nebraska team to win the Midwest Regional. Kearney won it in 2012)

Hastings will face the Mid-Atlantic Champion, New Jersey in the Little League World Series starting Thursday @ 4:00 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

With the recent rise in COVID-19 cases throughout the United States due to the dangerous Delta variant, and in the interest of all players, coaches, volunteers, and families, Little League® International has made the difficult decision to close the 2021 Little League Baseball® World Series to the general public and cancel its updated public attendance policy and will not distribute 3,000 daily Complex Access Tickets.
