The Nebraska volleyball team is No. 5 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason poll released Monday. This marks the seventh straight year Nebraska has been a preseason top-five pick. Texas will open the year as the preseason No. 1, followed by Wisconsin, Kentucky, Washington and the Huskers. Nebraska’s 30-match regular-season schedule features 11 matches against teams ranked in the top 25 and four ranked in the top 10. The Huskers open the season Aug. 27-28 with the Husker Invitational, welcoming Tulsa, Colgate and Kansas State to the Devaney Center. The annual Red/White Scrimmage is this Saturday at 6:00.
The Nebraska football team held their 15th practice of the fall yesterday morning. Defensive coordinator Erik Chinander met with members of the media after the workout. He said right now they’re focusing on game install and solidifying the depth chart. The Huskers will hold their 16th practice of the fall this morning. They open the season at Illinois Saturday, August 28th, kickoff will be at noon.
