Trev Alberts says he’s confident the Nebraska football team’s sellout streak will continue this season despite “a couple of games” that were looking iffy. Speaking at the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Tuesday, Alberts wasn’t willing to share just how far the Huskers have to go in continuing the sellout streak, but said “it’s is trending in a good direction”. The sellout streak, which dates back to the 1962 season, currently stands at a nation leading 375 in-a-row.

Alberts also said Nebraska and other Big Ten schools have submitted questionnaires to the conference regarding this season’s COVID-19 policy. The Big Ten has yet to announce their COVID protocols, but Alberts believes if a program is unable to field a team because of Covid cases, the game will be considered a forfeit.

Two Huskers are on the Big Ten Network’s list of the Top 30 players in the conference. The network’s Joshua Perry has defensive back Cam Taylor-Britt at No. 11. Perry calls the junior a “heat-seeking missile” on defense who plays with “passion and aggression.” Linebacker JoJo Domann was featured at No. 26 earlier this month. Perry’s Top 10 will be released later today.

The Huskers are holding their 17th practice of the fall this morning. Offensive coaches and players will speak to the media after the workout. You can find links to those interviews at HUSKERMAX.com. The Huskers open the season at Illinois Saturday, August 28th, kickoff will be at noon.

After signing a free agent deal with the New Orleans Saints last week, former Husker and Bearcat kicker Brett Maher was released by the team on Monday with an injury designation. Maher suffered a groin injury during warmups of the Saints’ first preseason game against Baltimore. He made both of his extra points in that game, but did not attempt a field goal. Maher was one of several players waived by the Saints to get down to the 85-man roster limit.
