The Nebraska football program and head coach Scott Frost are under NCAA investigation. Nebraska athletics director Trev Alberts on Wednesday confirmed Husker Athletics is reviewing the matter with the NCAA. According to a report from Brett McMurphy of Action Network, the NCAA’s investigation includes Nebraska’s impermissible use of analysts and consultants conducting and controlling drills. McMurphy’s report also had a source saying that Frost and his former chief of staff, Gerrod Lambrecht, were looking for a replacement to the Oklahoma game this year without athletic department permission. Frost denied the allegation saying “I’ve never made one single phone call in regards to our schedule, that’s not my job.

The Nebraska football team is holding their 18th practice of the fall this morning. Offensive coaches and players had a chance to speak to the media after yesterday’s workout. The Nebraska football team opens the season at Illinois Saturday, August 28th, kickoff will be at noon.

Nebraska redshirt freshman offensive lineman Jimmy Fritzsche is entering the transfer portal. Fritzsche, who was part of Nebraska’s 2019 recruiting class, announced his decision on social media Wednesday. The 6-foot-7, 290-pounder did not appear in a game during his Husker career.

Hastings will face the Mid-Atlantic Champion, New Jersey in the Little League World Series today in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. First pitch is at 4:00 Central Time.

The NSAA Board of Directors yesterday unanimously approved a plan to continue using an eight day format for the state soccer tournaments. The tourney was held over an eight day period last year because of COVID concerns. The tourney will be held at Creighton’s Morrison Stadium, starting on May 9th, with four matches a day before the finals on May 16th and 17th. In other actions, the Board of Directors approved the post-season format for girls wrestling, and they unanimously approved a request to allow Holdrege to opt up in volleyball and girls basketball.
