FORDHAM FACES TRAVEL ISSUES DUE TO FLOODING
Due to storm damage, mass transit suspensions, and road flooding in New York City from Tropical Storm Ida, all campuses of Fordham University were closed Thursday. This includes athletic facilities for Fordham athletes.
A spokesperson for Fordham and its football team did confirm that the football team is still scheduled to take their flight to Lincoln today.
FROST – YOUNG PLAYERS WILL GET REPS EARLY AGAINST FORDHAM
The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team has played 18 consecutive Big Ten games dating back to 2019. This week, the non-conference matchup with Fordham will break the streak and likely gives an opportunity for backups to get some valuable game snaps.

HUSKER VOLLEYBALL READY FOR AMERITAS PLAYER CHALLENGE
The fourth-ranked Nebraska volleyball team (2-0) plays host to the Ameritas Players Challenge this weekend at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Huskers open today with Omaha (1-1) at 11 a.m., followed by Georgia (2-1) that evening at 6 p.m. The tournament concludes Saturday with Arizona State (2-1) in a 6 p.m. finale.
Over his 29-year coaching career, John Cook is 1-0 vs. Omaha, 3-1 vs. Georgia and 1-0 vs. Arizona State.
LOPER VOLLEYBALL PREPARES FOR MOLLOY COLLEGE INVITE
The fourth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team is in New York this weekend to take part in the Molloy College Invitational.
UNK faces Molloy and American International College today and then Gannon and Wilmington University on Saturday.
The Lopers bested Gannon, 3-1, in a 2019 National Quarterfinal match in Denver while sweeping AIC back in 2016. Kearney hasn’t faced the other two schools in volleyball.
BIG 12 FOCUSING ON ADDING FOUR SCHOOLS
The Big 12 is not giving up after the departure of Texas and Oklahoma.
The conference has reportedly zeroed in on BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston as potential targets for expansion.
MEMORIAL STADIUM STRONGLY ENCOURAGES MASK USAGE SATURDAY
In accordance with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department’s latest directed health measure, Nebraska Athletics and university leaders have reinstituted a mask mandate for all indoor spaces in athletic venues. Fans attending football home games against Fordham are strongly encouraged to wear an appropriate facial covering, on campus property. In Memorial Stadium, masks are required in restrooms; elevators; common indoor premium spaces; hallways and lobbies on the suite level. In addition, masks are strongly encouraged in concourse spaces, lobby entrances, suites and all outdoor seating areas.
RUTGERS GAME POSTPONED TO SATURDAY
Rutgers’ season opener against Temple has been postponed to Saturday, a school official told NJ Advance Media.
The decision was made Thursday morning, hours before the 6:30 p.m. kickoff, that the Scarlet Knights will face the Owls on Saturday.
The postponement is the result of the impact on the Central Jersey roads from Wednesday’s Tropical Storm Ida.
