LOPER FOOTBALL HITS THE ROAD TO TAKE ON PITTSBURG STATE

The UNK Football team hits the road today to take on Pittsburg State in Kansas Saturday night. Both teams enter the contest at 1-0 looking to improve their national ranking.

The Lopers received some votes after their smashing of Missouri Southern State last week, meanwhile Pitt State jumped to #23 after beating then ranked #11 Central Missouri.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be seen on the MIAA Network.

FROST PREVIEWS BUFFALO

Head Coach Scott Frost spoke to the media Thursday after the Huskers final full practice before walkthroughs today in preparation for Saturday’s home tilt with Buffalo.

Frost previews the Bulls…

Both offensive and defensive coordinators added earlier this week that Buffalo provides challenges for the Huskers on both sides of the ball. The Huskers will take on Buffalo at Memorial Stadium on Saturday with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m.

RUNNING BACK STILL UP FOR GRABS FOR HUSKERS

Although Markese Stepp finished with over 100 yards rushing last week versus Fordham, Head Coach Scott Frost has yet to name a confirmed starter moving forward for the running back position.

On his monthly radio show Frost added that he wants to keep the “hot hand” at the running back spot. He added that the coaching staff is still waiting for one back to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

MEMORIAL STADIUM TO ALLOW WATER BOTTLES DUE TO HIGH HEAT

With temperatures expected to be near record highs Saturday in the mid- to upper 90s, Nebraska Athletics is altering its usual policy on water bottles for fans attending the Huskers’ football game against Buffalo in Memorial Stadium.

Normally, only empty water bottles are allowed into the stadium for fans to fill at the fountains inside. For Saturday’s game only, fans will be allowed to bring in one full bottle of water.

BIG 12 EXPANDS CONFERENCE WITH NEW ADDITIONS

Cincinnati, BYU, Houston, and Central Florida have been formally accepted into the Big 12 conference.

The plan calls for the programs to begin play in the Big 12 in 2023.

That leaves the AAC to “hunt for new members,” likely targeting schools from the Mountain West, Conference USA or the Sun Belt

FROST – BETTER BLOCKING FROM RECEIVERS

The Nebraska running game took a big step forward in last week’s win over Fordham, but looks to continue to improve this week against Buffalo on Saturday.

Head Coach Scott Frost adds that he wants to see his receivers take a step in helping the running backs…

Similar comments were made by Offensive Coordinator Matt Lubick after Tuesday’s practice. The Huskers ran for 329 yards last Saturday.

FROST NOT WORRIED ABOUT HEAT AT MEMORIAL STADIUM

The Huskers face another high heat gameday with temperatures in Memorial Stadium predicted to be in the mid 90s.

Head Coach Scott Frost is not worried…

Heat was also a factor in the Week Zero matchup at Illinois. The Huskers will face off against Buffalo as kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
