Frost continued by saying that turnovers by the offense created too many opportunities to keep Purdue in the game and eventually led to the letdown.

Martinez threw four interceptions and was seen on broadcast cameras receiving a heated exchange with Coach Frost after failing to convert a third down in the second half.
HUSKER FOOTBALL TIME SET FOR OHIO STATE
The Big Ten Conference has announced that Nebraska’s game next Saturday against Ohio State at Memorial Stadium will kick off at 11 a.m. CT and will be televised on FOX.
KEARNEY FOOTBALL FALLS TO ELKHORN SOUTH:
The Bearcats nearly overcame the Storm for the first time in their history, but could not stop some big plays by Elkhorn South, falling 35-20 and having their season come to an end at 4-6.
The Bearcats took the initial lead, but Elkhorn South scored twice to lead 13-7. Kearney tied the game late into the second quarter, but the Storm hit a deep 28 yard touchdown strike on 4th and 19 to take a 21-13 lead into halftime.
The Storm paced the second half despite a late push by Kearney. Elkhorn South takes on Gretna this Friday.
STARS OVERPOWER BOYS TOWN TO MOVE TO QUARTERFINALS
In a physical battle, the Stars left the Cowboys scoreless as they went on to win 26-0 in the opening round of Class C1 state playoffs on Friday.
The Stars are 10-0 on the season. They will face No. 10 Wahoo High School next Friday in the second round. Wahoo is coming off a 24-13 victory over No. 7 Auburn High School.
KEARNEY CATHOLIC VOLLEYBALL PUNCHES TICKET TO STATE
After a five set sub-district title win on Tuesday, Kearney Catholic swept by Ord to punch their ticket to state.
The Stars dominated from start to finish and maintained their Number One seed for the State Tournament.
Kearney Catholic, at 31-4 on the year, will take on #8 Pierce in the first round of the State Tournament on Wednesday at 1 PM.
UNK VOLLEYBALL GETS BACK ON TRACK
The 15th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team hit .333 and had 12 blocks to sweep 3rd-ranked Northwest Missouri State Saturday evening in Maryville.
The red-hot Lopers win a seventh straight match while the Bearcats go 1-2 on the week.
Fort Hays State comes to the Health & Sports Center on Tuesday. After Hays, UNK hosts No. 2 Central Missouri next Saturday afternoon in its 2021 home finale.
UNK FOOTBALL FACES HORROR SHOW AT NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE
The No. 6 Northwest Missouri State Bearcats had 606 yards of offense, got four touchdowns from Harlon Hill candidate Al McKeller and scored 30 points in the second quarter to blitz No. 17/17 Nebraska-Kearney, 66-13, Saturday afternoon in Maryville
A sold-out “Homecoming” crowd of nearly 9,000 watched the Bearcats move to 7-1 and to 13-4 all-time against the Lopers (7-2). This was the de facto MIAA Championship game; Northwest is at Missouri Southern (3-6) and hosts Emporia State (5-4) to close out the fall. Meanwhile UNK is at Central Oklahoma (4-5) next Saturday and then hosts Northeastern State (2-7).
The Loper/Bronchos game kickoffs at 2 p.m. next Saturday in Edmond.
HUSKER VOLLEYBALL STORY FALLS TO MINNESOTA
The No. 6 Nebraska volleyball team took No. 11 Minnesota to the brink in a five-set marathon Saturday night but fell 3-2 at Maturi Pavilion. The Huskers are now to 16-5 while UM improves to 14-6.
Nebraska continues its road stretch on Thursday, Nov. 4 at Illinois. First serve is set for 8 p.m. at Huff Hall in Champaign, Ill., and the match will be televised on BTN
STORM HOCKEY DOWN LANCERS ON SATURDAY
The Tri-City Storm defeated the Omaha Lancers in overtime by a final score of 2-1 Saturday night at the Viaero Center. Cole O’Hara scored the overtime game-winning goal to seal the win for Tri-City.
After back-to-back road games against Sioux City next weekend, the Storm return home to the Viaero Center for games against the Waterloo Black Hawks on November 12th and November 13th.
HUSKER MEN FLY BY COLORADO IN EXHIBITION
Fred Hoiberg’s team jumped to a massive lead early, extended it to 27 midway through the second half, and then moved past a clunky finish to win 82-67 over a Colorado program that made the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
The Huskers were up by 21 just nine minutes into the game and never traversed into serious danger, though Colorado rattled off a 17-2 run that brought the score into a respectable category after NU had gone up 67-40 with 11:50 left.
The Huskers are back again next Tuesday with the regular season starting against Western Illinois back at PBA.
NEBRASKA WOMEN START SEASON WITH MIDLAND
The Nebraska women’s basketball team tips off its 2021-22 season by playing host to Midland University in exhibition action at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Monday.
Tip-off between the Huskers and Warriors in their first meeting since 1979 is set for 7:30 p.m.
HASTINGS COLLEGE FOOTBALL STORY:
The Hastings College football team picked up win number two on the year by defeating Mount Marty 28-21 on Saturday afternoon.
Hastings moves to 2-6 on the year and will be back in action Saturday Nov. 6 as Midland comes to town with kickoff set for 1:00 pm on Lloyd Wilson Field.
UNK SOCCER CLOSES SEASON WITH LOSS TO EMPORIA
11th-ranked Emporia State thwarted an upset bid by Nebraska-Kearney, 4-1, Sunday afternoon at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium.
This was the regular season finale for both. ESU finishes second in the MIAA standings and will play in next week’s eight-team MIAA Tournament.
The Lopers spring season will start in March 2022.
