FROST BYE WEEK PRESS CONFERENCE COMMENTS

FROST – SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME ON OFFENSE

Head Coach Scott Frost spoke to the media on Wednesday regarding the shakeup of the offensive coaching staff.

Another noticeable change for next season will see Frost remove his play-calling duties on gameday. Frost said that he’s looking forward to focusing more on his head coaching duties…

Frost will continue play-calling duties for the next two remaining games of the season.

FROST – LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING WITH ALBERTS MORE

Head Coach Scott Frost restructured his contract on Monday while also firing most of his offensive coaching staff to make new changes for a team currently sitting with only three wins on the season.

Frost added on Wednesday that the open conversations with new Athletic Director Trev Alberts have helped in finding solutions rather than problems…

Frost and Alberts met on Sunday and Monday to discuss the future of the Husker program and jointly came up with decisions to better the team.

FROST – REMOVAL OF COACHES DOES HURT, TEAM WILL BE OK

Head Coach Scott Frost spoke to the media on Wednesday for his regular bye week media appearance. Frost addressed the changes made to the offensive coaching staff on Monday, but added that his team is feeling the sting of the change…

Frost named four interim assistant coaches – Ron Brown as running backs coach, Steve Cooper for quarterbacks, Frank Verducci on the offensive line, and Mike Cazano at receivers.

FROST – RETAINING BECKTON IS FOR CONTINUITY

After firing most of the offensive coaching staff on Monday, Head Coach Scott Frost spoke to the media regarding the reasoning on keeping assistant coach and tight ends coach Sean Beckton…

Beckton is in his fourth season coaching tight ends at Nebraska, and has been with Frost since his days at UCF.

FROST – BEEN A TOUGH 72 HOURS

Speaking at his media appearance after the firings of most of the Huskers offensive staff, Head Coach Scott Frost said Wednesday it has been a tough 72 hours…

The Huskers fired Offensive Coordinator Matt Lubick, Quarterbacks coach Mario Venduzco, Running Backs Coach Ryan Held, and Offensive Line Coach Greg Austin on Monday.

FROST – COULD NOT KEEP DOING THE SAME THINGS

Head Coach of the Huskers Scott Frost made his bye week media appearance after Wednesday’s practice. After announcing the firing of most of the offensive coaching staff on Monday, Frost doubled down by saying changes had to be made to win games…

The Huskers offense is currently ranked second in yards per game in the conference, but struggled against quality opponents in matching other high-powered offenses.

FROST – EASY DECISION TO MAKE SACRIFICES FOR TEAM

Head Coach of the Huskers Scott Frost addressed the media during the Wednesday bye week presser, speaking on the recent changes to Nebraska Football’s staff.

In addition to the removal of most of the offensive staff, Frost also restructured his contract and reworked his total pay and buyout. Frost said it was an easy choice…

Frost opened up nearly $2 million to hire a new coaching staff with his contract restructuring.

FROST – NOT LOOKING FOR MAJOR CHANGES TO STAFF

Head Coach of the Huskers Scott Frost addressed the media for the first time since the offensive staff had been fired and his contract restructured on Monday.

Frost spoke about the changes he is looking to make on offense…

Frost continued that he enjoys learning more from new coaches coming in. Athletic Director Trev Alberts also added that Frost is likely to give up play-calling duties once a new staff is hired.

FROST – WILL NOT HIRE UNTIL AFTER SEASON ENDS

As Head Coach Scott Frost addressed the media regarding the departures of most of the Huskers offensive staff on Monday, and told the media not to expect any replacements coming soon…

The rest of the regular season concludes with the Huskers facing two Top Ten defenses in Wisconsin and Iowa – the Badgers first in yards allowed at only 213 per game, and the Hawkeyes at tenth, giving up 304 yards per contest.

FROST – SPECIAL TEAMS COACH A POSSIBILITY

Head Coach of the Huskers Scott Frost restructured his contract to open more availability to hire additional coaches after the removal of most of the offensive staff.

Another sore subject for the Huskers in Frost’s regime has been the lackluster special teams; when asked if a special teams coordinator may be hired, Frost added that the unit has significantly improved under Mike Dawson but won’t rule out anything…

Dawson is currently pulling double duty as the outside linebackers coach and special teams assistant for the Huskers.

FROST – HEAD COACH WILL STAY PART OF THE OFFENSE

Head Coach Scott Frost will continue play-calling duties for the rest of the season after the firing of offensive coordinator Matt Lubick.

Frost and Athletic Director Trev Alberts both spoke about the need for Frost to step away from play-calling duties once a new staff is hired, but Frost wants to find the right play caller for his system…

Alberts said on Sports Nightly that Frost’s ability to be a head coach and correct small mistakes and miscues will be aided by giving up play calling duties.
