HUSKERS CAN’T FINISH COMEBACK, FALL SHORT IN RIVALRY
Kobe Webster had a team-high 20 points off the bench to lead three Huskers in doubles figures, but Nebraska’s slow start proved costly in a 77-69 loss to Creighton Tuesday evening at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Webster provided a spark, as the senior keyed a 21-4 first-half run that saw the Huskers erase a 19-point deficit to one late in the first half.
The Huskers return to action Friday night when they take on Idaho State at home. Tipoff from Pinnacle Bank Arena is set for 6 p.m
UNK SWEEPS UCO, ADVANCES TO MIAA SEMIFINALS
Redshirt sophomore outside Emersen Cyza had 23 kills overall to power No. 12 Nebraska-Kearney over Central Oklahoma Tuesday night in an MIAA Tournament first round match at the Health & Sports Center.
The red-hot and fourth-seeded Lopers (25-5) advance to Friday’s semifinals in Warrensburg, Mo. The opponent will be No. 3 and top-seed Central Missouri (26-3); the two split the regular season series. First serve time is to be announced.
UNK has now won 12 in a row and also pushes its’ MIAA Tourney win streak to 16 straight. That streak includes the 2021 MIAA Spring Invite; the Lopers last tourney setback was a 2015 semifinal setback to UCM in Edmond, Okla.
SEVEN LOPERS NAMED TO ALL-MIAA TEAM
Seven members of the Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team have been selected to the 2021 All-MIAA team.
Making the first-team are super senior middle Anna Squiers (Kearney Catholic) and super senior setter Madison Squiers (Kearney Catholic) as well as redshirt sophomore outside Emersen Cyza (Alliance).
On the second-team is senior libero Lindsay Nottlemann (Lincoln Pius X), redshirt sophomore middle Bailee Sterling (Kearney H.S.) and redshirt freshman right side Lauren Taubenheim (Lincoln Pius X). Finally, redshirt sophomore outside Cecilia Beahm (Hastings H.S.) was named honorable mention.

UNK FOOTBALL’S LYNN, DAVIS WIN CONFERENCE AWARDS
Josh Lynn is the 2021 MIAA Football Coach of the Year and Loper redshirt junior quarterback TJ Davis is the 2021 MIAA Offensive Player of the Year.
No. 21 UNK (9-2), heading into the NCAA Division II playoffs for the fifth time in program history, had nine offensive players selected, seven on defense and one special team honoree on the All-MIAA team voted on by conference coaches.
Davis, a four-time MIAA Offensive P.O.W award winner and a Harlon Hill Trophy Candidate, guides an offense that averages 36 points and 471 yards per game. The third-year starter is at 94.5 yards rushing and 186.5 yards per game with 38 touchdowns
Lynn has directed “The Rise” of UNK football, taking over a program in 2017 that was 1-21 the previous two seasons. The Lopers have won 18 of its last 25 games, recorded the program’s fourth-ever postseason win (2019 Mineral Water Bowl) and cracked the national rankings for the first time in a decade.
HUSKER WOMEN PREPARE FOR CREIGHTON
The Nebraska women’s basketball team plays its biggest game of its five-game season-opening home stand when the Huskers collide with Creighton tonight.
Tip-off between the Huskers (3-0) and the Bluejays (1-1) is set for 7 p.m.
Nebraska has opened its home stand with a 3-0 record that has included the most prolific three-game offensive stretch in school history. The Huskers totaled 298 points through the first three games and produced a combined scoring margin of 168 points
HUSKERS ACCEPT SENIOR BOWL INVITES
A few notable Huskers have accepted postseason invites to NFL Draft preparation bowl games.
Cam Taylor-Britt and JoJo Domann have accepted spots in the NFL’s Senior Bowl, hosted in Mobile, Alabama. Both players confirmed the acceptance on Twitter.
Taylor-Britt has yet to confirm if he is returning for his added season with the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season, but linebacker Domann has announced his intention to leave the Huskers once the season concludes.

NEBRASKA BASEBALL ANNOUNCES 2022 SCHEDULE
Head coach Will Bolt and the Nebraska baseball program have unveiled their 2022 season schedule. The 55-game slate includes 33 home games at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park for the Huskers, who are the defending Big Ten regular-season champion.
The schedule includes three 2021 NCAA Tournament participants in Big 12 regular-season and tournament champion TCU, Summit League Tournament champion North Dakota State and at-large selection Michigan. The conference portion has NU facing six of last year’s top eight Big Ten teams.
RODRIGUEZ EARNS ANOTHER BIG TEN HONOR
Lexi Rodriguez has been honored as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.
Rodriguez’s Defensive Player of the Week distinction is the second of her career. She has collected five weekly awards from the conference this season, having been tabbed Defensive Player of the Week twice and Freshman of the Week three times.
NU has counted 11 Big Ten weekly award winners this season.
