Kearney Police have been attempting to locate Joseph Garcia, 29, of Lexington, in regards to Garcia having a Buffalo County arrest warrant for attempted robbery. This arrest warrant is related to the shooting/homicide investigation which occurred in the 800 block of West 23rd Street, in Kearney, on January 16, 2022.
On February 11, 2022, at approximately 12:02 am, Garcia was contacted as the sole occupant of a vehicle, following a traffic stop by the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, in the approximate area of 9900 Sioux Road, in Buffalo County. Garcia was arrested on this warrant, without incident, and was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. The Kearney Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol assisted
in this arrest.
This shooting/homicide is still an ongoing investigation, and the Kearney Police Department continues to gather evidence and follow leads as the case progresses. KPD is also attempting to locate Chenoa Lemburg (AKA Snow), 22, of Grand Island, who has a Buffalo County warrant for attempted robbery, which is also related to this shooting/homicide investigation. Chenoa is a white female, 5 feet 2 inches tall, approximately 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Once again, this investigation indicates this was an isolated incident and not a random shooting. Additional information will be distributed to the public as available.
