BEARCAT BASKETBALL SWEPT IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE:

The Kearney High Basketball teams fell to Millard North on Senior Night to close out the regular season. 

Both teams now sit at 12-10 on the season and await the results of games across the state to determine their district seeding for next week’s postseason play. 

 

NEBRASKA MEN FALL TO MARYLAND:

Freshman Bryce McGowens finished with a game-high 25 points, but Maryland used a 12-3 run to open the second half on its way to a 90-74 victory Friday evening.

McGowens posted his ninth 20-point game of the season, including 14-of-15 from the foul line, but Maryland (12-14, 4-11 Big Ten) shot 59 percent in the second half in breaking a five-game losing streak. 

Nebraska hits the road to take on Northwestern this Tuesday, Feb. 22. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be televised on the Big Ten Network, with radio coverage provided by the Huskers Radio Network.

 

NEBRASKA BASEBALL SLIPS IN OPENER:

The Nebraska baseball team fell 8-5 in the season opener at Sam Houston on Friday night at Don Sanders Stadium in Huntsville, Texas.

The Huskers had nine hits and an error in the defeat, while Sam Houston totaled nine hits and a pair of errors.

The Huskers and Bearkats continue the weekend series with a doubleheader today beginning at 2 p.m. The first game of the twin bill is a seven-inning game, followed by a nine-inning contest approximately 30 minutes after game one.

 

STORM DROP HOME GAME TO LANCERS

The Tri-City Storm dropped a home game to the Omaha Lancers by a final score of 3-2 at the Viaero Center on Friday night. Tanner Adams and Andrew Strathmann each netted goals for the Storm in the loss. 

Tri-City returns to action on Friday, February 25th in a home matchup against the Sioux Falls Stampede.
