The Huskers were led by senior Olivia Ferrell in the circle who recorded her 12th complete game and fifth shutout this season. Ferrell held the Gophers to only three hits on the day.

STORM CLINCH ANDERSON CUP:

The Tri-City Storm clinched the third Anderson Cup Championship in organizational history Friday night in a 6-2 road win over the Omaha Lancers. The 2021-2022 team joined the 2003-2004 and 2018-2019 teams as the only teams in the organization’s twenty-two year history to capture a regular season title in the USHL.

Graham Gamache netted his first career hat trick in Friday’s win. Arsenii Sergeev notched his league-leading 29th win of the season in goal

The 2021-2022 Storm team is now just one win shy of tying the 2018-2019 Anderson Cup Championship team with the most regular season wins during a single season in team history (45).

Tri-City hits the ice again on tonight in a road game against the Sioux Falls Stampede.

LOPER SOFTBALL KEEPS LINCOLN WINLESS:

Sophomore southpaw Madison Rosenthal threw a six inning one-hitter and sophomore righty Stacy Bott allowed one earned run in 5.2 innings to help Nebraska-Kearney take a double header from Lincoln, 10-2 (6 innings) and 6-1 Friday afternoon at Patriot Park.

The Lopers improve to 21-17 (11-5) while the Blue Tigers (12-29, 0-20) remain winless in league play. The 21 wins is the most in the MIAA era (since 2013) with the league win total of 11 just shy of the 2019 Lopers (12-14).

Also this weekend, UNK had four men’s distance runners compete in the large and prestigious Mt. Sac Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational in California. That long trip paid off as Iowa sophomore Myles Bach broke the school-record at 10,000 meters (29:23.64), Ainsworth sophomore Ben Arens recorded the second fastest time (8:54.68) in the steeplechase and seniors Seth Simonson (3:48.65) and Luke Stuckey (3:46.65) had solid times in the 1,500.
