KEARNEY, Neb.; April 19, 2022 – The Kearney Family YMCA today announced they have received a $20,000 grant with the support of the Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Fund of the Kearney Area Community Foundation. This grant will support the Healthier Tomorrows Capital Campaign, now at 90% of the $8.8 million goal.
The Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Fund typically grants funds to projects or programs in the Kearney area and surrounding communities. Arthur E. Klinkacek wanted to give back to his community with a gift to the Kearney Area Community Foundation from his estate to help communities and youth in Buffalo County areas for years to come.
“Investing in improving our facilities brings the Y’s mission of strengthening communities to life,” said Kearney Family YMCA CEO Ray Longoria. “The Healthier Tomorrows Capital Campaign is funding building improvements and adding 26,000 square feet to the existing Kearney Family YMCA structure — enhancing benefits for Kearney families, children, seniors, and other members of the local community.”
An official groundbreaking of the expansion is being scheduled for May 11, 2022, all while the final stages of fundraising continue. To see future building plans and progress photos and to donate to the Healthier Tomorrows Capital Campaign, visit KearneyYMCA.org/Our-Future.
