LOPER FOOTBALL SPRING GAME CONCLUDES SPRING PRACTICES SATURDAY:
The Nebraska-Kearney football team will conclude spring practice with an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, April 23, at 1 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
The Lopers have been divided into “Blue” and “Gold” teams with the scrimmage consisting of four quarters lasting 10 minutes each with a running clock. When a squad attempts a field goal or PAT, all three Loper kickers will get a chance, meaning a possession could yield as many as nine points.
Fall camp begins in early August with the 2022 season opener set for Thursday, Sept. 1, at Missouri Southern State.
UNK VOLLEYBALL HOSTS LEGENDS CLASSIC SATURDAY:

The field also consists of four Loper Alumni teams (Legends Gray, Black, White and Royal), Bellevue, Doane, Hastings, Midland, Cloud (Kan.) County C.C., Seward (Kan.) County C.C. and North Platte C.C.

The event is free to the public.
HUSKER VOLLEYBALL HOSTS KANSAS IN GRAND ISLAND:
The Nebraska volleyball team plays its only spring match of the season when it heads to Grand Island to face Kansas on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Heartland Events Center.
Saturday’s match will be televised statewide on Nebraska Public Media. A free live stream will be available to watch at NebraskaPublicMedia.org.
Tickets for Saturday’s match went on sale on March 10 and approximately 6,000 tickets were sold out within 10 minutes.
Nebraska is coming off a 26-8 season (15-4 Big Ten) and an NCAA runner-up finish. Entering the NCAA Tournament with a 21-7 record and a lineup featuring four freshmen in the rotation, the 10th-seeded Huskers peaked at the right time, knocking off the No. 2 Texas Longhorns on their way to an NCAA Semifinals appearance. After a 3-1 win over No. 3 Pittsburgh, NU got a third chance against Big Ten champion Wisconsin in the NCAA Final. The match went to five sets, where the Huskers fell behind 7-0. A furious rally pulled the Huskers to within 14-12, but ultimately Wisconsin edged NU for the crown.
NEBRASKA BASEBALL’S BIG BATS NOT ENOUGH TO STAGE LATE RALLY:
Facing a seven-run deficit after six innings, Nebraska scored four runs in the seventh and three in the ninth, but the Huskers couldn’t complete the comeback in an 8-7 loss at Indiana on Friday night at Bart Kaufman Field in Bloomington
Nebraska (14-22, 4-6 B1G) scored seven runs on nine hits and two errors, while the Hoosiers (15-22, 3-7 B1G) had eight runs on 12 hits and an error.
Nebraska poured in four runs on three hits in the seventh to trim the deficit to three.
Singles by Anglim and Anderson put two runners on for the Huskers in the top of the ninth, before Matthews smacked a two-out three-run homer to center to bring Nebraska within a run.
Game two of this weekend’s series with the Huskers and Hoosiers is set for 1 p.m. CT.
LOPER SOFTBALL STUNS UCO IN GAME 2 OF DOUBLEHEADER:
Freshman Sydney Thomason threw a complete game four-hit shutout and sophomore left fielder Abbie Jo Gaube went 2 for 3 with two RBI’s to help Nebraska-Kearney stun fourth-ranked Central Oklahoma, 3-0, in the second game of a double header Friday afternoon at Patriot Park.
The Lopers (23-21, 13-9) and Bronchos (39-7, 18-2) were scoreless for three innings in game one before UCO erupted for a five spot lead in the top of the fourth. Behind star pitcher Kylee Lynch (20-1), the ‘Chos recorded a 10-4 win.
With most of the MIAA playing double headers over the next few days, UNK is in sole possession of sixth place in the standings. The top eight teams make the league tourney. UNK hasn’t made the MIAA Tourney since joining the league prior to the 2013 season.
