Cemetery Supervisor Steve Baye joined KGFW Associate News Director Liz Macias on Talk of The Town today, detailing about the work the city staff are doing to prepare for the upcoming memorial day weekend.

Baye first mentioned that flowers placed over Mothers day would need to be picked up by Monday, May 16th. Flowers placed for Memorial Day should be set out no earlier than Friday, May 27th, and picked up by June 6th.

Memorial Service starts at 10 a.m. Monday, but work begins to set up the cemetery days before. Baye spoke about being in the process of planting over 3500 flowers at the cemetery for Memorial Day coming up, as well as over 400 flags being put up over the holiday weekend.

An estimated 7000 cars are expected on Memorial Weekend. Baye gave a few tips for those wanting to visit the cemetery during that time, including to pull off to the side of the road as to not back up traffic.

Baye also spoke about other projects going on at the cemetery, such as a development of nine acres along Avenue N, which is set to open by 2025. New fencing was also added along 44th Street.
