HUSKER BASEBALL FALLS IN WALK-OFF AFTER MARATHON RAIN DELAY:
Nebraska suffered a 5-4 loss in the bottom of the ninth at Illinois in the series finale on Sunday, which featured two weather delays that combined for four hours and 53 minutes.
The first delay lasted 95 minutes in the bottom of the third, before a lengthy delay of three hours and 18 minutes between the eighth and ninth innings.
Nebraska (20-29, 8-13 Big Ten) had four runs on six hits and two errors, while Illinois (28-20, 14-7 Big Ten) scored five runs on 10 hits and an error.
Nebraska was retired in order in the ninth, before Illinois had the walk-off victory in the bottom of the ninth. Justin Janas dropped a single in front Tyler Palmer in left, who bobbled the attempt at fielding the ball, which allowed the unearned run to score from first to win the game.
NEBRASKA SOFTBALL WINS BIG TEN TITLE WITH ANOTHER WALK-OFF:
The Nebraska softball team (40-14) claimed the Big Ten Tournament title after beating No. 23 Michigan (36-16) 3-1 in eight innings on Saturday afternoon. This marked the Huskers first Big Ten Tournament title since joining the conference and first conference tournament title since 2004
Courtney Wallace (17-6) picked up the win after coming in for relief in the middle of the seventh inning. Wallace held the Wolverines to no hits and no runs through 2.0 innings.
Cam Ybarra, who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, led the Huskers on offense with two hits and two RBIs while Sydney Gray added another RBI.
The Huskers secured the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
HUSKER SOFTBALL SEEDED IN STILLWATER REGIONAL:
The Huskers (40-14) were selected to play in the Stillwater Regional and are slotted to play North Texas, which is playing in its first-ever tournament.
This marks the 21st time that NU coach Rhonda Revelle has taken the Huskers to the tournament.
Seventh-seeded Oklahoma State will host the regional and Fordham joins as the fourth team. OSU is one of only two teams to pick up a win against No. 1 Oklahoma this season and won the Big 12 tournament over the Sooners on Saturday
Nebraska, the Big Ten Tournament champions, will face the Mean Green on Friday with first pitch set for 5 p.m.
NEBRASKA FOOTBALL LANDS A SAFETY TRANSFER:
Kaine Williams was a four-star safety from Marrero (La.) John Ehret high school when he committed to Alabama in 2021.
Williams entered the transfer portal on April 25th and following official visits to Kansas and Nebraska this week, he committed to the Huskers on Sunday.
Williams is the eighth scholarship defensive back Nebraska has added to their roster this off-season.
Williams also picked up offers from Kansas, Tulane, Temple and Indiana to go along with the offer from Nebraska according to his social media.
