NEBRASKA SOFTBALL ENDS SEASON IN STILLWATER:
After beating the North Texas Mean Green on Friday in Game 1 of the NCAA Stillwater Regional, Nebraska Softball fell to No. 7 Oklahoma State 7-4 Saturday afternoon then falling to North Texas in a rematch to wrap up the Huskers Softball season.
The Huskers were held to just three hits on the game by freshman Skylar Savage (15-7), who pitched the complete game for the Mean Green as North Texas won 3-0.
Courtney Wallace took the loss for Nebraska, finishing the season with a 17-8 record. Wallace struck out six batters in 3.2 innings before Olivia Ferrell came in as relief.
Billie Andrews, Peyton Glatter and Kaylin Kinney each recorded hits for the Huskers.
The Huskers finished their season with its best record (41-16) since 2014 when NU finished 44-18.
HUSKER BASEBALL WINS SPARTY SERIES, RAIN PREVENTS BIG TEN TOURNEY APPEARANCE:
Max Anderson hit two of Nebraska’s four home runs on Saturday, as the Huskers wrapped up the 2022 season with a 10-9 win vs. Michigan State on Senior Day at Hawks Field.
Nebraska (23-30, 10-14 Big Ten) totaled 10 runs on 15 hits and an error, while the Spartans (24-30, 8-16 Big Ten) had nine runs on 12 hits.
Nebraska finishes the 2022 season with a 23-30 overall record and 10-14 mark in Big Ten play.
Despite the victory, weather in West Lafayette was enough for Purdue and Maryland to cancel the final game of their series, putting the Boilermakers into the final spot of the conference tournament.
FORMER ALABAMA FOUR STAR CHOOSES HUSKERS IN PORTAL:
Nebraska football added another piece from the transfer portal, as Alabama defensive tackle Stephon Wynn Jr. committed to the Huskers over interest from Georgia Tech, Texas Tech and others, and officially visited Nebraska the weekend of May 14.
Wynn had largely been a reserve for the Crimson Tide during his time at Alabama. A redshirt senior, Wynn appeared in 21 games in his four seasons and recorded a combined 13 tackles. He played in seven games as a reserve this past season and tallied seven tackles.
The 6-foot-4, 307-pound Wynn was a Top-100 recruit out of IMG Academy during the 2018 cycle. A native of Anderson, S.C, he was the No. 3 strong-side defensive end and 74th overall prospect.
The commitment is the latest addition to Nebraska’s defensive line this spring. Nebraska secured a commitment from Devin Drew from Texas Tech and added TCU transfer Ochaun Mathis. Drew is slated to arrive in Lincoln in July and Mathis is already in Lincoln.
