On Friday United States District Judge John M. Gerrard sentenced Obsa Ahmed, 29, of Grand Island to 24 months in prison for failing to register under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
After release, Ahmed will be required to serve 5 years of supervised release.
Ahmed was required to register as a sex offender after falsely imprisoning a minor in 2017 in Wisconsin.
The conviction required Ahmed to register as such for 15 years in accordance to federal law.
Registration was also required after Ahmed moved from Wisconsin to Grand Island in April 2021, but failed to do so.
