ROBY HEADS TO SAN ANTONIO AFTER THUNDER WAIVER:

Former Nebraska forward Isiah Roby has a new home. After being cut this week by the Oklahoma City Thunder, Roby was quickly picked up by the San Antonio Spurs.

Roby, who is still just 24, averaged 10 points on 51% shooting for the Thunder last season and had started 62 games for them over the last two years. He was selected with the 45th pick in the 2019 draft.

FOUR STAR RECEIVER JOINS HUSKERS 2023 CLASS:

Nebraska landed a commitment on Tuesday from wide receiver Omarion Miller, one of the team’s top targets on offense.

The addition of Miller gives Nebraska three wide receivers in the 2023 class and Miller becomes the highest ranked player to join the Huskers. Miller was previously committed to LSU, but opened things up ahead of an official visit to Lincoln at the beginning of June.

The connection to Miller for Nebraska stems from Mickey Joseph, who helped get the receiver committed to LSU, and now again with the Huskers after changing jobs in December.

The news comes off the heels of Saturday’s commitment from Georgia recruit Barry Jackson’s announcement to Nebraska.

DYLAN ROGERS CONTINUES HUSKERS’ RECRUITMENT HOT STREAK:

Nebraska hauled in its fourth defensive commitment in the past two weeks on Tuesday, landing inside linebacker Dylan Rogers from Cypress (Texas) Cy Woods.

The three-star recruit had recently named a top-six list of finalists that consisted of NU, Texas, Colorado, Kansas State, Missouri, and Houston.

Rogers joined the Huskers’ recruiting class shortly after taking an official visit to Lincoln last month. Between visiting Nebraska and committing to the Huskers, he also took an unofficial visit to Texas.

Rogers becomes the 13th known commitment in Nebraska’s 2023 class and the fifth defensive recruit with Dwight Bootle, Van Poppel, Hayden Moore and Maverick Noonan. He is also the second defensive recruit from the state of Texas, joining Riley Van Poppel from Argyle.

ACC, PAC-12 IN DISCUSSION FOR PARTNERSHIP:

The ACC and Pac-12 have discussed what has been termed a “loose partnership” that could end the season with the conferences playing a “championship game” in Las Vegas, sources confirmed to CBS Sports.

The concept, believed to have been proposed by the ACC, is seen as a way for the conferences’ common rightsholder, ESPN, to increase the value of their current media rights contracts.

It’s not likely this proposal would have much impact considering ESPN has cost certainty with the ACC in a contract that lasts through 2036. The Pac-12 is trying to survive after the loss of USC and UCLA to the Big Ten in 2024. Rights for Pac-12 teams without the California powers are now worth about $30 million annually, down from approximately $42 million per program with the Trojans and Bruins in the fold.

MAYFIELD TRADED TO PANTHERS:

Baker Mayfield’s saga in Cleveland finally has a resolution: He’s headed to Charlotte.

The Browns and Panthers have agreed to a trade that sends Mayfield to Carolina in exchange for a 2024 conditional fifth-round pick, which can become a fourth-round selection. The deal is pending a physical.

Mayfield’s journey with Cleveland began with the No. 1 selection of the 2018 draft. Mayfield encountered plenty of highs and lows, but his tenure ultimately pivoted toward divorce with the Browns’ pursuit and eventual acquisition of Deshaun Watson.

They received such an offer this week. Mayfield heads to Carolina, where fellow 2018 top-three selection Sam Darnold already resides on a nearly identical rookie deal.
