Tim Higgins has had a lengthy career with Runza Restaurants and has set plans in motion to retire after 40 years on August 1, 2022.  Tim started as a part-time employee at the age of 19 and was quickly promoted to Store Manager.  Since then, Tim has managed 7 different Runza restaurants in 3 different cities.  He and his family moved to Kearney, Nebraska in 1997 to open the Kearney North location.

Once setting foot in Kearney, Tim soon realized how important community involvement was and dove in head first.  From the PTO President at Northeast Elementary to the Kearney Public School Board President, Tim poured himself into the community and that vastly impacted the success of the 2 Kearney Runza Restaurant locations.  He literally beat the pavement at UNK by selling Runza Sandwiches at their athletic events to taking over and operating the concession stands for over 25 years.  “Working 7 days a week, 362 days a year takes its toll on a person,” said Higgins. “The time has come for me to step away from Runza.”

The current Management Team and Staff will continue to handle the daily operations and ownership will be transferred to the Runza National Corporation.

Tim looks forward to enjoying more time with his wife, Sue, his children and his grandchildren.  “I have been very blessed to be a part of Kearney and I am excited to see what my next adventure will bring.”
