Many Kearney residents experienced a power outage Saturday afternoon, with power returning later that evening.
On Saturday August 15, at about 3:26 pm a power outage occurred and impacted 4,143 Nebraska Public Power customers in Kearney. Most of the outages took place south of Highway 30.
NPPD say the cause was a mechanical issue with a piece of equipment at a substation on the southside of town.
Crews responded to the substation and restored all but 462 customers by 4:26 p.m.
The remaining customers were restored by approximately 6:25 p.m.
