A fatal train-tractor collision occurred Tuesday east of Litchfield.
On Tuesday at about 1:31pm Sherman County Sheriffs office responded to an accident half a mile east of the Litchfield.
A John Deere tractor driven by John J. Pickar, 63, was going northbound on 465 Ave through the railroad crossing when a Westbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train struck.
Mr. Pickar was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Sherman County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from Litchfield Fire and Rescue and from Burlington Northern Railroad Police Department.
