Troopers arrested two people after locating 17 pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol at approximately 11:30 am Saturday a trooper observed a Mercedes GLA250 driving on the shoulder on I-80 near Seward County.
A traffic stop was initiated, and during the stop the troopers suspected criminal activity.
A vehicle search revealed 17 pounds of suspected cocaine and dozens of unknown pills that were hidden in a compartment in the rear of the vehicle.
The driver, Jennilee Velez, 20, and passenger, Mia Williams, 20, both of Chicago, were arrested for possession of controlled substances and possession with intent to deliver. Both were lodged in Seward County Jail.
