The Nebraska State Patrol has asked the Lincoln Police Department to investigate a motorcycle crash.
According to NSP, at 9:20 pm Friday a trooper attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle without license plates. The motorcyclist refused to yield and sped at a high rate of speed. A pursuit was not initiated.
An NSP helicopter provided support and began to track the motorcycle. The motorcycle was eventually tracked into downtown Lincoln. Troopers attempted another traffic stop at approximately 10pm but the motorcycle began to drive on the sidewalk and again fled the traffic stop.
A pursuit was not initiated due to pedestrians and vehicle traffic in the area.
About 10 minutes later the NSP helicopter then observed the motorcycle traveling northbound on I-80 at high speeds splitting lanes between vehicles before crashing into the rear end of another vehicle.
Troopers responded to the scene and attempted life saving measures before paramedics arrived, but the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The rider has been identified as Hadeer Ali, 25, of Lincoln.
