A grand island man was convicted for misuse of a Social Security number.
63-year-old Jose Bahena Sanches was sentenced in federal court for misuse of a social security number. Bahena Sanches was sentenced to 10 months in prison and a three-year supervised release. In addition to prison time, Bahena was ordered to pay $48,000 in restitution.
On April 8th, 2019, Bahena filled out an I-9 form to begin employment, using the Social Security number of his deceased brother. Bahena Sanchez also used the number in December of 2016 to apply for social security benefits, which he obtained from 2017 to 2022.
