NEBRASKA WOMEN LOOK TO RIGHT SHIP AGAINST TEXANS AT PBA:
The Nebraska women’s basketball team returns to Lincoln on Tuesday night for the first-ever meeting with Tarleton in any major team sport. Tip-off between the Huskers and Texans at Pinnacle Bank Arena is set for 6 p.m.
Nebraska’s meeting with Tarleton (3-1) will be the lone home game for the Huskers in a seven-game stretch that began with road battles last week at No. 20 Creighton (Nov. 15) and Drake (Nov. 19), before the upcoming two-game Thanksgiving tournament in Puerto Rico.
In a rare occurrence, Nebraska plans to wear red uniforms at home on Tuesday, primarily because of complications caused by its upcoming Thanksgiving travel plans.
Coach Misty Wilson is in her ninth season as the head coach at Tarleton, where she has amassed a 141-94 record after a Hall of Fame playing career and more than a decade as an assistant at her alma mater. The 2022-23 campaign marks Tarleton’s third season of NCAA Division I competition, and the Texans own a 28-30 record at the D-I level.
Pregame is set to begin at 5:45 PM tonight on KGFW with tip-off from PBA set for 6.
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY 1 RECAP / DAY 2 PREVIEW:
A fantastic first day of High School Football championships on Monday set the stage for more great contests today in Lincoln’s Memorial Stadium.
In the early window, Class D2 Hitchcock County downed Howells-Dodge, ending their 25 game winning streak with the 22-12 victory.
Clarkson/Leigh blew past Neligh-Oakdale 48-20 to claim the D1 title.
In the night cap, the rematch from last year’s Class A title lived well beyond its expectations, as Omaha Westside’s Tristan Alvano nailed 5 field goals – 4 coming in the second half – as the Warriors won on a game winning kick as time expired to outlast Zane Flores and Gretna 43-41.
In the C2 matchup this morning Norfolk Catholic cleared out Cedar Catholic, winning 23-0.
Currently Pierce and Aurora are in action for the C1 Title, and tonight to wrap up the season pits Bennington and Omaha Gross Catholic for Class B.
All games can be watched on Nebraska Public Media.
HUSKER FOOTBALL PRACTICE COMMENTS – MICKEY JOSEPH:
JOSEPH – HUSKERS STILL HAVE ONE MISSION REMAINING:
Interim Head Coach Mickey Joseph addressed the media after Tuesday’s practice and spoke on the team’s mentality heading into the final game of the season at Iowa…
Nebraska aims to knock off Iowa from atop the Big Ten West to prevent the Hawkeyes another trip to the Big Ten Title game.
JOSEPH – IOWA VERY SIMILAR TO PREVIOUS OPPONENTS:
Interim Head Coach for the Huskers Mickey Joseph spoke to the media after Tuesday’s practice and reiterated that Iowa matches up very close with previous Big Ten West opponents…
The Hawkeyes have one of the top defenses in the country but lack offensive explosion, rating 124th in the nation.
JOSEPH – HAWKEYES HAVE A GOOD SYSTEM:
Mickey Joseph had high praise for Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa football program leading into their matchup on Black Friday…
Nebraska looks to close out the season on a high note taking down Iowa as the Huskers sit at 3-8 on the season.
JOSEPH – NOT WORRIED ABOUT ROSTER CONTROL UNTIL AFTER IOWA:
Mickey Joseph – Nebraska interim Head Coach – was asked at his Tuesday practice session what roster conversations he’s been having with his team leading into the final week of the season…
Nebraska has yet to name a time, date, or person who could be taking over as head coach after the season concludes.
JOSEPH – GOOD AND BAD MEMORIES IN COMING BACK TO LINCOLN:
Interim Head Coach Mickey Joseph was more reflective during his Tuesday post-practice press conference, talking about some of his favorite memories and some sour notes from his tenure so far in Lincoln…
Nebraska hired Joseph as the associate head coach and wide receivers coach in December 2021, and has signed him to a contract to keep him in Lincoln regardless of a coaching change – however a buyout could come if a new coach does not wish to keep the talented New Orleans recruiter and assistant.
KUBIK, KNUCKLES WILL NOT RETURN FOR FIFTH SEASON AT NEBRASKA:
A pair of Nebraska stars have already decided their futures in college volleyball: Neither Madi Kubik and Kenzie Knuckles will return for a fifth season.
Kubik and Knuckles, each of whom is a senior and eligible for another year, both announced on Tuesday that they will not be coming back for a fifth year.
Kubik recently said on Instagram that she was enjoying her final road trip to Iowa. Kubik confirmed that Saturday against Minnesota will be the only Senior Night she participates in during Tuesday’s press conference.
With both program cornerstones gone after this season, it’s going to give the incoming No. 1 recruiting class a chance to see the court right away. That also means the commitment of No. 5 recruit Laney ChoBoy is even bigger than originally thought. She’ll battle alongside Norris native and walk-on Maisie Boesiger for the starting defensive specialists role in 2023.
LOPER WOMEN XC JOIN MEN AT NATIONALS:
The ranked Nebraska-Kearney women’s cross country team has reached the NCAA Championships for the first time in school history.

UNK was in good position to make the trek West after a fourth place showing at the NCAA Central Regional meet this past Saturday in Joplin
The 15th-ranked UNK men were region runners up, thus receiving one of the three auto bids from the Central. They are in the NCAA’s for a second straight season and for a 10th time overall.
