MORE PORTAL EXITS AND DECOMMITMENTS FOR HUSKER FOOTBALL:

More players are exiting stage left on the Nebraska Football program with the new hire of Matt Rhule as Head Coach.

Nebraska reserve offensive lineman Alex Conn has entered the transfer portal, he announced on Monday.

The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Conn is a native of Derby, Kansas, and did not appear in a game during his three seasons in Lincoln.

New Orleans running back Arnold Barnes decommitted from Nebraska on Monday morning as well. He gave a verbal to former interim coach Mickey Joseph on Nov. 1.

The Top247 ranks Barnes as the No. 80 running back in the class.

RED STATE! NEBRASKA MEN’S HOOPS DOWNS IN-STATE RIVAL CREIGHTON:

Derrick Walker and Sam Griesel combined for 40 points and 20 rebounds, as Nebraska knocked off No. 7 Creighton, 63-53, Sunday afternoon at the CHI Health Center.

Walker led three Huskers (6-3) in double figures with a career-high 22 points on 11-of-16 shooting and eight boards, while Griesel added 18 points 12 rebounds and seven assists as Nebraska picked up its third straight road win against a ranked opponent dating back to last year.

The win was Nebraska’s third straight road win over a ranked team dating back to last season (at No. 22 Ohio State, at No. 10 Wisconsin). It is the first time Nebraska has won three straight road games vs. ranked teams.

Nebraska’s last win against a team ranked as high as No. 7 Creighton came at No. 7 Iowa State on Feb. 22, 1997. Nebraska’s win was its first at Creighton since the 2004 NIT and first regular-season win in Omaha against Creighton since 1995.

The Huskers continue a gauntlet of top-10 teams as they travel to No. 10 Indiana Wednesday evening.

HUSKER VOLLEYBALL ADVANCES TO LOUISVILLE REGIONAL; FACES OREGON:

The seventh-ranked Nebraska volleyball team will face ninth-ranked Oregon on Thursday at 10 a.m. CT in an NCAA regional semifinal at the KFC Center in Louisville, Ky.

The Huskers (26-5) and Ducks (25-5) are the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, respectively, in the Louisville Regional. The No. 1 seed and host Louisville Cardinals (28-2) will face No. 4 seed Baylor (25-6) on Thursday as well.

The Huskers’ 38 trips to an NCAA Regional are the most in NCAA history.

The Huskers are 6-2 all-time against the Ducks. The teams played in an NCAA regional final in 2018 in Minneapolis. Nebraska won 25-22, 25-23, 25-17, en route to an NCAA runner-up finish.

HUSKER WOMEN’S HOOPS FINISH OFF MARYLAND:

Jaz Shelley, Isabelle Bourne, Allison Weidner and Alexis Markowski all provided huge performances, as Nebraska snapped No. 20 Maryland’s 15-game series domination in a 90-67 pounding of the Terrapins at the Xfinity Center on Sunday.

Nebraska improved to 6-3 on the season while opening Big Ten Conference play with a huge road win. Maryland slipped to 7-3 and 0-1 in the league.

Shelley went off for the Huskers with 22 points in an 11-minute span that covered the final minute of the first half through the end of the third quarter, turning an 11-point Nebraska deficit into a four-point lead,.

Nebraska returns home after a four-game road swing to continue Big Ten action against Wisconsin on Wednesday. Tip-off against the Badgers at Pinnacle Bank Arena is set for 7 p.m.

STORM’S WERNER BREAKS RECORD IN WIN:

Tri-City Storm forward Evan Werner broke the team’s record for most consecutive games with a goal in Saturday’s 3-2 road victory at Liberty First Credit Union Arena against the Omaha Lancers.

Werner netted a first period goal to score in his seventh consecutive game since joining the team in a transaction with the Lancers. The previous organizational record for most consecutive games with a goal was six games. Werner scored an additional goal during Saturday’s 2nd period.

Nick Roukounakis netted the game-winning goal during the 2nd period for the Storm.

Tri-City now returns home to the Viaero Center to host the Omaha Lancers for the organization’s annual Military Appreciation Night game on Friday, December 9th. Saturday’s game completed a five-game road trip for Tri-City.
