The Kearney Police Department participated in the statewide Buckle Up Every Trip, Every Time campaign from November 23 – November 27. Officers conducted approximately 5-8 hours of traffic enforcement.
During this selective enforcement, there were 77 total traffic contacts and 14 citations issued. There were 2 speeding citations issued, 1 minor in possession of alcohol, 1 driving under the influence arrest, 1 open container of alcohol, and 1 fugitive was apprehended. Observed seatbelt use increased by 7% based on seatbelt use surveys done before and after the campaign.
As always, the Kearney Police Department is requesting that you wear your seat belt and buckle up your children. Kearney’s participation in the Buckle Up Every Trip, Every Time campaign is funded through a grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
