OMAHA – The Bearcats boys basketball team earned their fifth win on the season with a 75-28 victory on Friday night over Omaha Buena Vista.

Kearney controlled the contest from the start despite not having any of their regular starters open the contest. Jack Dahlgren, Ben Johnson, Karter Lee, Asher Endorf, and Treyven Beckman all remained in warm-up gear throughout the evening.

Starting the contest was Ian Piper, Colt Straka, Jake Kracl, Justin Murray, and Turner Bertrand. The new Bearcats on the block fed Bertrand early underneath, while opening up some angles for the sophomore Kracl as both had a combined 12 in the quarter. The Bearcats led at the end of the first 21-5.

More players saw time into the second as Kearney pushed the lead further to a 45-12 advantage.

With a running clock in the second half, all 15 players on the bench had playing time with Kearney comfortably dominating 75-28.

The Bearcats had contributions from 11 different players: Straka led the way with 12 points, Kracl ended with 11, Bertrand had 9, Piper added 9, Jhordy Solares had 6, Jacob Hansen added 6, Jo Bausch dropped 5, Keeghan Hunt had 5, Luke Draper ended with 4, Justin Murray had 4, and Evan Slaymaker had 2 points.

The Bearcats hit the road again to Hastings College Saturday afternoon to face Elkhorn North in the Heartland Hoops Holiday Classic. Pregame begins at 1 PM on KGFW.
