HUSKER MEN’S HOOPS AWAIT BIG TEN TILT WITH SPARTY:
Nebraska looks to extend its two-game win streak on Tuesday, Jan. 3, as the Huskers travel to East Lansing, Mich., for a matchup with the Michigan State Spartans. Tip Off from the Breslin Center is set for shortly after 6 p.m.
Nebraska (8-6, 0-2 Big Ten) comes off its best defensive effort of the season in a 66-50 win over Iowa. The Huskers held Iowa to a 26 percent shooting while holding the Hawkeyes to a season-low 50 points, 33 below their season average. Nebraska took control with a 20-0 first-half run, holding the Hawkeyes without a field goal for nearly nine minutes.
Tonight’s game at Michigan State is the Huskers’ eighth game away from home in the first 15 contests. Michigan State (9-4, 1-1 Big Ten) returns to Big Ten play following an 89-68 win over Buffalo on Dec. 30.

KEARNEY BASKETBALL MATCHUP WITH NORTH PLATTE POSTPONED TO WEDNESDAY:
The Kearney Bearcat basketball teams will rest another day as they await their rivalry week matchups with North Platte.
The doubleheader originally scheduled for Tuesday night has been moved to Wednesday due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions between Kearney and North Platte.
Both games are scheduled to begin at their original start times at Kearney High School on Wednesday.
BILLS’ HAMLIN CONTINUES IN CRITICAL CONDITION; BILLS-BENGALS WILL NOT BE RESUMED THIS WEEK:
Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin had his heartbeat restored on the field after suffering cardiac arrest during the team’s game Monday night against the Bengals, and he is currently in critical condition at a Cincinnati hospital, the Bills said in a statement early Tuesday morning.
According to the Bills, he is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.
The NFL has announced that the Bills-Bengals matchup will not be resumed this week and there has been no decision on potentially resuming it at a later date.
LOPER WOMEN FALL TO CENTRAL MISSOURI:
The 11th-ranked Central Missouri Jennies had four starters score in double figures and tallied the final five points to edge No. 26 Nebraska Kearney, 55-50, Monday night in Warrensburg.
UCM (11-0, 7-0) remains perfect and records its second straight last second win as they edged No. 29 Fort Hays State, 63-62, on Saturday afternoon. The Lopers (13-3, 6-2) have now lost three games by a combined 14 points and fall to 2-13 all-time against the Jens.
Things don’t get any easier for UNK as Pittsburg State (10-3, 5-2) and No. 9 Missouri Southern (12-2, 4-2) come to Kearney this weekend. Pitt went 12 of 22 from behind the arc tonight in Joplin to down the rival Lions, 87-79.
UNK MEN DROP CONTEST IN WARRENSBURG:
Ten different players got into the scoring column and Central Missouri used strong defense to beat Nebraska Kearney, 62-48, Monday night in Warrensburg.
The Mules (7-6, 3-4) won a third straight over UNK (2-11, 0-7) with the two meeting again on Feb. 9 in the Health & Sports Center.
UNK hosts Pittsburg State Thursday night. The Gorillas (5-8, 2-5 lost at rival Missouri Southern tonight, 84-63.
HUSKERS FOOTBALL FINALIZES COACHING STAFF WITH FORMER PANTHER HIRES:
Nebraska football has completed its on-field coaching staff by filling the final two full-time assistant coaching positions: Rob Dvoracek is joining the program as the Huskers’ linebackers coach, and Garret McGuire is being added as the receivers coach.
They will both join the staff following the Panthers’ final game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
Dvoracek and McGuire will now be the sixth and seventh coaches to have worked for Rhule on the Panthers staff who will also join him in Lincoln.
OC Marcus Satterfield, DL coach Terrance Knighton, secondary coach Evan Cooper, special teams coordinator Ed Foley and head strength & conditioning coach Corey Campbell all spent at least one season with Rhule in Carolina.
