By Mark Reid Jan 13, 2023 | 4:11 PM

Nebraska Game and Parks will be hosting an ice fishing clinic this weekend in Kearney.

A Classroom Ice Fishing Clinic will be held Saturday, January 14 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Yanney Heritages Park’s ERC Building.

The Classroom Clinic will feature NEFGA President James Lyda and NGPC Fisheries Division’s Discover Ice Fishing Program Coordinator Larry Pape, who’ll introduce their programs. Additionally, Daryl Bauer, NEBRASKAland’s Barbs and Backlashes blogger, will be presenting at the clinic. Participants will also have the opportunity to speak with Nebraska’s most successful Icers, who’ll share and demonstrate their knowledge they use on the field.

On Sunday, January 15 an “on-ice” fishing event will take place at Fort Kearney at Lake No. 6 from 8 a.m. to noon. The on-ice fishing event will be presented by Larry Pape.

Both events are free of cost. Seating is limited. Email Larry.Pape@Nebraska.gov to register.
