KEARNEY – Tri-City Storm goaltender Cameron Korpi has been named the United States Hockey League’s (USHL) Goaltender of the Week for the second time in his career following last weekend’s games. Korpi backstopped the Storm to victory in consecutive road games against the Omaha Lancers and Sioux Falls Stampede.

Cameron Korpi, 18, of South Lyon, Michigan, did not allow an even-strength goal in either appearance in net this weekend for Tri-City. Omaha’s lone goal on Saturday was netted on the powerplay, and Sioux Falls’ scoring plays on Sunday were scored on a six-on-five attack. He turned away thirty-three of Omaha’s thirty-four shots on goal during Saturday’s 4-1 road victory at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Korpi tied a season-high for Save Percentage (SV%) during the matchup (.971%). He also recorded a season-high thirty-five saves in Sunday’s 3-2 road win over Sioux Falls. Korpi has produced a 6-1-1-0 record in net for Tri-City in eight appearances this season. He has notched a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 2.12, and SV% of .929. Korpi is the only Storm netminder to win four consecutive games in net to this point in the 2022-2023 regular season. The NHL Central Scouting Bureau ranked him as the 31st-best North American goalie prospect for the 2023 NHL Draft. Korpi previously announced a commitment to play collegiate hockey in the future at the University of Western Michigan.

It’s an honor being recognized by the league with this award. I thought the team played great this past weekend. It’s always good to take 4/6 points in a tight Western Conference race, which is huge for our group. My time with the Storm this season has been really great, the guys and the staff have been awesome!” – Goaltender Cameron Korpi

This is a well-deserved award for Cameron based on his performance Saturday night, and a quick turnaround on the road on Sunday. He made some big saves both nights, and has really showcased himself well since joining our team.”- President of Hockey Operations/Head Coach Anthony Noreen
