Kearney aimed to avoid the same fate as the Thunderbolts by playing tight defense early, switching constantly and preventing easy looks for the hot-shooting Tigers. The Bearcats controlled the opening tip and the first three minutes as Ben Johnson continued his hot scoring streak hitting back-to-back triples to open the game. As Kearney leaned on their top scoring threats, Jack Dahlgren hit his stride with a triple and found six more points to total nine in the quarter. Treyven Beckman and Karter Lee each scored as well, while Fremont hit some shots outside from Coriahnn Gallatin and worked inside with Zach Keaton, but the young Tigers faced an uphill climb down 22-11 in the first quarter.

The Bearcats would only allow 11 more points from Fremont the rest of the game, stifling the shooting attack to 6, 1, and 4 in the final three quarters. Kearney would pour on 14, 22, and 9 in the final quarters as Kearney earned their win on Senior Night with reserves playing most of the second half.
