KEARNEY BASKETBALL SWEEPS FREMONT:
The Kearney Basketball teams earned wins in different ways on Tuesday night, closing down Senior Night with a sweep over Fremont at Kearney High School.
The Bearcat girls needed overtime to take down the Tigers, having their three-point shooting go cold until sophomore Kelsey Hatcher hit a three in extra time to control the final period and give Kearney their fourteenth win on the season in the 56-52 win.
The boys dominated from start to finish, ending with 10 different contributors as they ran past Fremont 67-22.
Full recaps are available online at KGFW.com. The Bearcats close out the regular season at Lincoln Southwest on Thursday night.
HUSKER MEN TAKE DOWN RUTGERS IN NEW JERSEY:
Nebraska basketball put on a masterful offensive performance Tuesday night as the Huskers defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 82-72 on the road.
The Huskers picked up their second straight win and third in four games as they dissected the stout Rutgers defense.
Heading into Tuesday night, the Scarlet Knights led the Big Ten in points allowed per game and opponent field goal percentage per game, but they could not stop Nebraska.

Walker was also masterful, putting up 16 on 8-of-10 shooting. Tominaga totaled 22 points in his fourth straight game scoring 20 points. Griesel was the unsung hero of the night, scoring 12 points on near-perfect shooting and leading Nebraska with 11 rebounds.
It was the first time Nebraska beat Rutgers on the road since 2018.
Nebraska improved to 6-10 in Big Ten play and 13-14 overall. The Huskers will have a chance to move to .500 when they take on Maryland at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sunday.

PROFESSIONAL VOLLEYBALL TEAM COMING TO OMAHA:
A professional volleyball league that launched last fall has signed a deal to have one of its teams in Omaha.
The Pro Volleyball Federation announced on Monday that Omaha will have a team during the league’s inaugural season. The first matches are scheduled for February 2024.
It hasn’t yet been announced where the Omaha team will be playing its home matches, but the group appears to have a strong ownership group with Omaha businessman Danny White and music star Jason Derulo. Derulo has sold more than 250 million singles worldwide, achieving 15 platinum singles.
Super Bowl champion Trent Dilfer and NFL quarterback Joe Burrow are among the founding partners of the Pro Volleyball Federation.
Omaha is joined by Grand Rapids, Michigan, as the first two markets announced for the league.
KANSAS CITY SUPER BOWL PARADE TODAY:
Hundreds of thousands of fans are expected to line the streets of downtown Kansas City on Wednesday as the city celebrates the Kansas City Chiefs’ second Super Bowl championship in two years.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid and Super Bowl MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be joined by teammates, family and Chiefs officials as they ride in open-air vehicles down one of the city’s main downtown streets.
Most schools, many businesses and some government offices in the Kansas City metro area will be closed so people can celebrate. The event starts at noon and will end with a victory rally at the city’s Union Station.
